How u use ur power & privilege matters. It reveals ur character. It shows, clearer than words ever could, if u have the will, principle, commitment & compassion to bridge the gap between who u think u are & who u really are. It's a true test of ur integrity & self-awareness.

There is no white genocide in South Africa. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

What happened, @nytimes? Why not stand by your original headline? Because it’s absolutely an accurate representation of this trash conversation. To publish this at all should be a fireable offense - but to publish it as women’s rights are being decimated is deeply immoral, bordering on evil
The things that are happening in the United States keep blowing my mind.🤯 😳 Truly. I cannot believe the things I am witnessing.

How many times must we tell you that YOUR🫵🏽 good marriages will not shield other women from the patriarchy that it’s built on? Happy for you and stuff but your individual experiences is not a reflection of the systemic violence that exists within the institution
My marriage doesn’t work as a hierarchy. We’re equal partners in a romantic and sexual relationship, raising children together as a team. We work together to accomplish our goals. And have our own hobbies and mutual hobbies. We’re best friends. Why wouldn’t people want this??

Using a lumping term to describe your heritage shows how performative this is. Take the time to learn about your people. You belong to one of the world’s richest, oldest and most resilient communities.

@CilliersB, you’re running to be mayor of a majority black constituency. Do you really think it’s morally appropriate to be posing with the man who spewed eugenicist rhetoric claiming white people are intellectually superior? @SongezoZibi @Action4SA @MmusiMaimane @brettherron @HermanMashaba if any of your parties put up a strong candidate to run against Cilliers, I’d be happy to run another AI campaign for them (for free), just as I did for @Rise_Mzansi and @ForGoodZA in last year’s general election.

white people acting shocked at south africa’s high unemployment & inequality and blaming it solely on the ANC is something i’ll never entertain - the ANC hasn’t fixed the structural exclusion that’s the result of colonialism & apartheid but it’s not the root cause of it

Jon, I was with you. You told me you didn't submit any RSVP. You probably should've?
I was not allowed into Mamdani's event (for obvious reasons) — but Al-Jazeera was standing behind me and I overheard them crowing that "we had no trouble getting in — they like us"

In post-apartheid South Africa, it’s startling to see folks who benefitted (directly or indirectly) from the racist apartheid privilege structures suddenly declaring their views on redress and calling for them to fall.
“Tonight we have spoken in a clear voice Hope is still alive… And whilst we cast our votes alone, we chose Hope together” 🥺 I have wept in relief, in joy, in hope as I watched this over and over again. Man, the world has needed someone like @ZohranKMamdani 😍
Full victory speech: Democratic New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani delivered an impassioned speech Tuesday night, in which he thanked supporters, addressed President Trump directly and promised that he would usher in a new chapter of change. cbsnews.com/live-updates/ele…

HE WON!!!!! Zohran Mamdani is the mayor of New York city!!!!!!!!😍🙌🏽 I hope he, his team and New Yorkers realise that he has just become the shining light of hope we all need in a world that feels so broken. 🥺
I hope New Yorkers who supported Mamdani have prepared for this. They will need to put in an immense effort to pushback against this in the next few months. I hope his team is prepared and is preparing HIM because it’s going to be BRUTAL. And my God, I hope he takes it in Nov🥺

The love story of Bubbles Mpondo and Jannie Beetge is a tragic tale of a cross-racial romance during apartheid in South Africa. Mpondo, a Black woman, and Beetge, a white Afrikaner bodybuilder, were deeply in love but faced intense opposition and were arrested multiple times for violating the Immorality Act. Their story ended in tragedy in 1978 when they were found dead in their Johannesburg home. Source: Drum Magazine / Drum Social Histories

With this level of reporting, Netwerk24, should rename themselves Die Solidariteit Volksblad 😅 Their desperate spin to brand the “Not In Our Name” letter an “ANC project” is pathetic. They bank on readers to run with their misleading headline and photo - which they and the PodBros will do. Fact: Karen Burger – a mid-level government employee – is NOT the writer, NOT a signatory, and only shared the petition in her personal capacity like many other Afrikaners have been doing. Burger, Piet Croukamp (original drafter and signatory) and Max du Preez (original signatory) told them this. Yet their headline screams: “Senior Member of Government helps behind the scenes with ‘Not In Our Name’ Statement” Pathetic clickbait, not journalism. On a positive note at least their readers will now know there are still white government employees. 😂

But now who is “we” because these are South Africans in this video that you’re using to say “we can’t mobilise like this”.😭 I take the point on individualism but acting like organising and mobilising doesn’t happen in SA is dishonest.
The reason we can't mobilize like this is because we have idiots like @hlovo_ pushing individualism. Its a bunch of them
