C'mon now. Linus is a cool dude and all, and I'm grateful, but he DID just create an open-source version of UNIX, which is where all those creative genius engineers came from. So, essentially, he's a WaReS guy who cracked a proprietary system and gave it to everyone. I'm grateful and all, but he didn't invent the OS.

It should be the creator of unix - Ken Thompson, the improver of unix Bill Joy and then the inventor of C Dennis Ritchie. Without these guys there would be no Linux and the world would be a very different place.
