Ten hours of eating (14h daily fast) significantly improved both clinical and patient reported outcomes in patients with #POTS. This is exciting because there is no standard drug treatment for this condition that affects millions. @PamTaubMD

Congrats to my mentee and interventional cardiology fellow, @rsampathkumarMD for leading this paper examining the impact of cardiometabolic risk factors on hemodynamic valve deterioration after TAVR.
We need more research on how cardiometabolic factors contribute to valve longevity. In my clinical experience, I find that patients with excellent control of cardiometabolic risk factors (BP, lipids, A1c, weight, etc.) have excellent valve durability. What do the interventional cardiologists think?

Testing has increased, but it is still very low (less than 1% of the population). Per @nationallipid and @society_eas and @escardio guidelines everyone needs to have Lp(a) tested at least once in their lifetime. @hsbhatia @MWilkinsonMD
Our paper “Time-restricted eating (TRE) improves quality of life (QOL), heart rate, and mitochondrial function in patients with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. An open-label pilot study” was recently published. TRE in animal models has been shown to decrease inflammation and improve autonomic and mitochondrial function, which are underlying mechanisms contributing to the pathophysiology of POTS. We conducted the first clinical study of TRE in POTS, and showed that TRE decreased heart rate and improved QOL metrics and mitochondrial function in patients who were already on pharmacotherapy for POTS. Thanks to @Dysautonomia for funding this study, and we hope to conduct a larger randomized clinical trial.
