No chance of watching your team lose if they play during church. 😌👌 Unfortunately, the Bills played at 1:00
Watched the Colts game after I knew the result. Way less stressful that way for some reason.

And before Catholics try to pit James against Paul and therefore deny the inerrancy of Scripture... Lutherans believe both Romans 3:28 and James 2:24

"Faith apart from works justifies (Romans 3:28)" Sounds exactly like "faith alone"

You at least mostly get baptism right ;). Just gotta keep yall from adding sola fide to the gospel.

Rev. Peter Deberny retweeted
Jesus is on every page of the Old Testament.
Predestination is actually a Biblical teaching! Ephesians 1:4-5, "even as [God] chose us before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he *predestined* us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ..."
Replying to @PastorDeberny
I grew up a Lutheran and never heard anything about predestination. That was always a Presby thing.
I guess its time to stop believing that Jesus walked on water because that's illogical
When your systematic isn't logical, that should tell you its time to discard it.

"Without God's Word the water is plain water and no Baptism. But with the word of God it us a Baptism, that is, a life-giving water, rich in grace, and a washing of the new birth in the Holy Spirit." Luther's Small Catechism

Lutherans are neither Calvinist nor Arminian. Both systems of thought attempt to add logical explanation to the mystery of salvation. Lutherans are willing to trust the message of Scripture, even if we can't explain everything rationally.

Lutheran View of TULIP ✅T - Total Depravity ⚠️U - Unconditional Election ❌L - Limited Atonement ❌I - Irresistible Grace ❌P - Perseverance of the Saints For unconditional election, we believe God predestines believers to salvation but not to damnation.
Genuine question, do you believe in TULIP?

This is a tough issue (and should be approached with humility). The real question is whether we view illegal immigration as a one-time act of sin or as an ongoing rebellion against God. Divorce poses a similar challenge.
Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to receive the Eucharist.

No good things without God. In anyone. Ever.
Does anyone have self-control without the Spirit? Patience? So are these exclusive to believers?

Some people aren't going to like my view of Mary. Theotokos: yes Second Eve: maybe? New Ark: no Mother of the Elect: no Perpetual Virginity: probably not Immaculate Conception: no Bodily Assumption: no Queen of Heaven: no Mediatrix of all graces: no Co-Redemptrix: lol
I’ll play along: Theotokos: yes Second Eve: yes New Ark: yes Mother of the Elect: yes Perpetual Virginity: Yes Immaculate Conception: possibly Bodily Assumption: possibly Queen of Heaven: like all the bride of Christ Mediatrix of all graces: You nuts? Co-Redemptrix: hell no.
Insulted nonstop but one person calls me based

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, FAITHfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22 (bonus points if you know the tune)
No the Bible never says the HS instills faith. God tells people to have faith.

No. You don't create faith. You are given faith.
Salvation is synergistic. You do your part (believe), God does his (save).
When the Church of Rome was filled with corruption, Martin Luther didn’t ignore it and say, “I didn’t change, they did.” He took action! Your flock in the ELCA is associated with those who deny the inerrancy of Scripture. Protect your people!
Replying to @becomelutheran
A few reasons: 1. Most congregations are normal. The weirdos get the headlines. 2. I didn’t change, they did. 3. Today’s ELCA is still, formally, a big tent. There are moves to change that - and if/when that comes, that will change things for a LOT of people like me.

Leave the ELCA
Stories like this are why I can't take the "faithful remnant" in the ELCA seriously. You're in a burning house with rabid wolves, zombies, and Freddy Kruger running around and you're saying "I'm fine in my corner here. Still alive." ???????
