It's no secret that it's been a challenging few years for crypto gaming tokens.
Prices have gone down, teams have stopped development, creators have pivoted, and players have left. Users have been trained to sell at TGE, assuming others will do the same, and based on past performance and pattern recognition.
To be honest, it feels pretty scary launching a token at a time like this.
But we cannot time the market. We are not the type of team to sit idle and wait for something that is our of our control. It's time to pioneer the shift, and we believe markets in 2026 and beyond will reward ecosystems that innovate and lead.
These challenges are also why what we're doing is important.
Tokens and token incentives are a massive industry ($100bn+). Unless teams can find a way to distribute them efficiently, this industry will struggle.
If gaming (or consumer) tokens do not work, then teams cannot raise funds to build, apps cannot onboard new users into crypto, users cannot get upside in the ecosystems they contribute to, and we lose out on the core values of crypto: decentralisation and security.
What we're trying to build with Proof of Contribution goes bigger than Fishing Frenzy.
The mission is to improve how token incentives work. Our belief is that contribution, reputation and impact matters. This is increasingly evident in the 2025, with every major protocol now finding ways to identify real contributors (Kaito, Ethos, Monad, MegaETH).
Teams must adapt and everyone must reset their expectations.
$FISH and Karma is the first case study and experiment in Proof of Contribution, and we hope it can inspire more innovation.
Our team has had countless hours of discussion with each other, with external advisors, with other founders, and with community members, trying to design the perfect tokenomics.
Unfortunately there is no perfect tokenomics. There are only trade-offs.
The two core principles we have when making trade-off decisions:
- Do our best to ensure value accrues to the biggest contributors and believers, rather than those who sell on day 1
- Take risks and be different, even if it isn't something the market and community is used to
We call this next phase Chapter 2, because its going to be a new chapter - with new challenges, new audiences, new features, and more work to do.
If you believe in our team, the potential of Proof of Contribution, or have received moments of delight from Fishing Frenzy, then we humbly ask for your support.
