The UK today is nowhere near the mess it was in in 1976. Even then, Dennis Healy only agreed to the loan based on Treasury forecasts. Those forecasts were wrong, and it likely a loan was not required. Badenoch is scaremongering (2)
Also, the naming of the courts in New York is weird. The Supreme Court is the name of the initial trial court. Appeals first go to the Appellate division (there are four in the state), and the top level court is the Court of Appeal
Disgorgement is not damages, it is a calculation of improper gain and collection of monies owed. the likely end result will be a third trial, not on the fraud verdict but solely on the sum Trump will have to end up paying.
As the decision was split two, two, one, the case now goes forward to the State court of final appeal. The likely result is that the civil judgement will stand, the case was properly brought, but the disgorgement amount will be reduced (possibly to the $175m bond) from $500m
On the disgorgement amount, two thought the financial penalty was too high. two thought the other measures in the judgement e.g. the person now overseeing the activities of the Trump organisation, was sufficient penalty, the Trump appointee wanted the penalty dropped entirely
The initial appeal at district level was heard by five appeal judges. Four agreed the case was properly taken and that the civil fraud judgement was correct. One, Trump appointed judge, said the case should be thrown out.
They were even reporting comments from Eric trump that his father's 'nightmare was over' and that the appeal process proved a malicious, politically motivated case. Again not the case.
Other victims of this rogue builder now face complex and costly civil actions without the evidence that said individual is a proven and convicted con artist
The repayment may be mitigation but it does not the other harm and distress the builder caused. Often, we raise cases on the basis of the strongest evidence and the Crown have failed to recognise that this case isn't just the one event, it is a long standing pattern of behaviour
First test ended on the 5th day - fairly unusual for modern tests, so had it's climax on two work days (Monday/Tuesday). Next test, if it lasts 4 days, would have no play on a Sunday, the weekend, a day when a big crowd is normally expected.

Older mechanical scales (e.g. sweetie shop fan scales), were altered by replacing the indicator chart.
Older scales required a software adjustment to read in metric (often just the flick of an internal switch) and reverification, but that didn't cost 拢20,000. For verification you pay for an hour of officer time discounted for multiple sets, so 拢70
