The path to hopefully ending the 40-day shutdown: ✅ Pass three year-long appropriations bills (regular order!) ✅ Extend the current clean, nonpartisan CR deadline to make room for more approps bills ✅ Thune’s offer to have a *post-shutdown* ACA vote is still on the table

Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger, the state's first female governor, said her recent election victory should not be seen as permission for congressional Democrats to prolong the government shutdown. “Our victory was based on a campaign addressing concerns related to costs and chaos,” Spanberger told @margbrennan. “Virginians need to — and Virginians want to — see the government reopen.”

Sen. Schumer in March: “If we ended up in a shutdown, three weeks from now people would come to me and say … 'They just got rid of my veteran's benefits,' 'Stop it,' … Then they'd say to me, 'Why did you let the shutdown happen?'"

Sen. Schumer in March: Voting for the clean CR “does far less damage [than a shutdown].”

Because of the Schumer Shutdown, air traffic controllers are being forced from their day job to find other ways to put food on the table. Fewer controllers in the tower is what's caused these cancellations. End the shutdown. Pay the controllers. Get more planes in the air.
Schumer says the flight cuts are a "stunt" because they are ramping up every day "This isn't about safety. It's about politics masquerading as safety" "The level that they will go to putting the American people in discomfort and worse is unprecedented"

As Sen. Schumer once again calls this a "GOP shutdown," a dose of reality: Axios: "Emboldened Democrats push to prolong government shutdown" WBRC: "Democrats consider prolonging the shutdown" Democrats: Ending the shutdown would be "surrender," "disheartening," "dispiriting"

“ … Democrats refusing to yield to GOP attempts to fund any parts of the federal government …”

Cracks are forming. After 38 days, Democrats abandon their original and equally unserious proposal. Extending the COVID bonuses *is* the negotiation — something that can only take place after the government reopens. Release the hostage. End the pain.

Not only will Democrats keep the government shut down for “leverage,” but now opening the government would hurt their “brand.” That brand includes putting their own politics before the basic needs of every American. dailycaller.com/2025/11/06/c…
Dems have been saying the quiet part out loud for weeks. Now they're shouting it. Cheers from yesterday's Dem lunch after deciding to prolong their shutdown. Dems consider reopening the govt to be "surrender," "deflating," and "dispiriting." Day 38 of the Schumer Shutdown.

NEW: Leader Thune just told me the CR + various funding bills vote may or may NOT happen today— “that’s a possibility” because “we're trying to make sure that we can win that vote.” Reiterates it’s a question of if enough Dems will “take yes for an answer.”

Democrats created Obamacare. Democrats created COVID subsidies. Democrats created COVID subsidies cliff. Democrats repeatedly failed to extend COVID subsidies cliff when they had full control of government. Democrats: "Republicans did this."
Health care costs up? Thank a Republican.
Democrat Sen. Peter Welch while asking unanimous consent to extend the ACA COVID subsidy cliff that Democrats voted to create: "[Democrats] did fail to bring down the cost of health care."

Read that again: Getting a vote *on the issue over which they've shut down the government* would be "surrender." Other Democrats have said ending the shutdown would be "hugely deflating" & "dispiriting." Welcome to day 37 of the Schumer-led Democrat shutdown.
Talks underway to reopen government, including CR + minibus funding package and separate ACA vote. Blumenthal says a separate ACA vote would amount to “surrender” Shaheen, a key negotiator: “I think talks continue to be productive, and hopefully we can get to a resolution.”

As Dems continue to say this is a GOP shutdown: Dems are "urging their colleagues to hold out on the shutdown even longer ..." Dems view Tuesday's elections as a "reward" for maintaining the shutdown. Dems say ending the shutdown would be "hugely deflating" & "dispiriting."

From the party that keeps saying this is a Republican shutdown: “At least nine Senate Democrats, including Murphy, are privately urging their colleagues to hold out on the shutdown even longer.” Also admits that the pain Americans are facing is worth the political “reward.”

As Democrats celebrate political "rewards" ... a reminder that tens of millions of people across America are still suffering from the far-left's 36-day "fight" to keep the federal government shut down.
Murphy on last night’s election results: “It would be really odd right after the country rewarded us for fighting, for us to immediately stop fighting”
