"If (R)s abolished the silent filibuster then if (D)s retake power they'll pack the court, admit Puerto Rico, and abolish election safeguards!"
But if we abolished it...
1. We could SIGNIFICANTLY cut taxes, spending, and regulations, which the GOP has failed to do ever since (D)s created the silent filibuster in 1972.
2. We could pass a law that would pack the court, release Puerto Rico, and turn South Dakota into 8 states (Northwest South Dakota, Northeast South Dakota, etc.) that would kick in on March 1st UNLESS constitutional amendments passed that would define the court as 9, outline statehood process to require 60% referendum vote + 2/3rd in Senate, and require Voter ID.
If we don't abolish the silent filibuster now, Democrats could if they retake power (came within two votes of doing so in 2022) and then do reverse of the aforementioned therefore ending our republic.
