बख़्तियार खिलजी और बिहार का बड़ा ही दुखदाई और डरावना इतिहास है। बिहार किसी जमाने में नालन्दा विश्वविद्यालय के लिए जगप्रसिद्ध था। नालन्दा के इस विश्वविद्यालय का संबंध हिंदू, जैन और बौद्ध इन सभी समुदायों से था। इतिहास के कई पन्ने विगत दशकों में सत्ताधारी लोगों मिटाने का प्रयास किया है। इन्हीं अध्यायों में से एक नालंदा विश्विद्यालय का इतिहास भी है। कई लोग आज भी ये कहते है कि उनकी स्कूल की किताब के अनुसार ब्राह्मणों ने इस जगह का विध्वंस किया। पर वास्तविकता यह है कि नालन्दा का भस्म करने वाला बख्तियार खिलजी था। जातिवाद की राजनीति करने वाले आपको यह वास्तविकता कभी नहीं बताएंगे।
