#BREAKING: TUNDU LISSU's TREASON CASE ADJOURNED AGAIN OVER SECURITY CONCERNS
The treason case against Tanzania’s prominent opposition leader, Tundu Lissu, has been adjourned once again after prosecutors informed the court that the accused could not be brought to court due to security concerns.
State Counsel Thawabu Issa told the panel of judges that the Prisons Department was unable to present Lissu in court, citing safety issues. He also noted that key witnesses expected from Ruvuma and Mbeya failed to appear for the same reason.
The case, which had previously been postponed on October 3 due to similar challenges, was scheduled to proceed with the fourth prosecution witness.
Prosecutors requested a 14-day adjournment to allow the security situation to stabilize.
A panel of three judges led by Justice Dastan Ndunguru granted the request and directed that the case resume on November 12.
The Prisons Department was instructed to ensure Lissu is present in court on that date.
