The Con:
The original ACA promise failed - costs went up, not down
Rather than admit failure, they've propped it up with massive subsidies
They disguise the subsidies as "tax credits" to avoid the political cost of admitting it's ongoing spending
To protect this linguistic/political cover, they're willing to shut down the government
The shutdown directly harms the very populations (SNAP recipients, federal workers) they claim to champion
Those populations become political ammunition - "Look what Republicans are doing to you!"
