I am absolutely shocked that Mike Griffin is not one of the two.

Time to renominate and confirm @rookisaacman with all speed.

SLS is way too expensive for an evolutionary dead end lander that would only be used once. We've already won the moon race. The second race won't be landing there first but building there first.

@grok Is it possible that Jim Bridentine’s criticism of the Artemis architecture is inspired by his current paid role as a director at ULA?

The proposals for speeding up HLS are beyond idiotic! There is absolutely no universe or alternate reality where legacy aerospace delivers an HLS lander to the surface of Moon before 2035! This goes way beyond being Laughable and Screams of Legacy Hacks, especially considering the incredibly strong ties both former Administrators currently have to Legacy Aerospace! What a bloody joke! We already beat China to the moon, 56 years ago

Typically Legacy Aerospace Tripe from both former NASA Administrators who just so happened to have extremely deep financial ties to those entities! Utterly Laughable! grok.com/share/bGVnYWN5LWNvc…

Why are we in a race to beat China to the moon? We already won that race. Many decades ago. Rather than go back as soon as possible, we need to go back in a manner that is safe, reliable, and cost effective for many trips to the moon to establish and maintain a moon base.

They're paid lobbyists, of course they're saying these things.

A crew-rated Blue Moon Mk 1 lander and SLS/Orion is the only architecture that can realistically return US astronauts to the lunar surface in the short term (and before China). Mk 1 Pathfinder will be launched early next year. It's time we get on with it.

usually when i criticize NASA, people start cussing at me saying "You think you smarter than NASA? FOOL!" but when NASA turns on Starship, with whole 3 administrators saying its fails to deliver, then suddenly the view becomes all nuanced, now NASA can be flawed🤣

Almost every comment in this article makes me want to jump for joy (Bolden’s typical “we can’t do that” routine aside). All it took was one President to point out the obvious - Starship is taking too long - and now things will shape up. Even SpaceX is offering an alternate path.

With the availability of Starship, there should be all kinds of options.

Am I the only one disgusted by this grand pairing and short term thinking, China China China…. All political theater. Lets build the moon base alpha, and nothing else matters.

Old people who are too young to carry the pin of achievement of the Apollo program want to rush before they die to do another Apollo type achievement. The elephant in the room, is the Apollo program as great as it was, cost too much, and amounted to a pr stunt on the moon . So stopping being a pansy by trying to do it the same way. Get some vision and do it in a way that will actually benefit humanity. Ie HLS, delete SLS, maximize mass to lunar surface.

Why should the goal be beating China to the moon? Makes no sense, there are way bigger goals.
Replying to @SpaceNews_Inc
Changing the plan every few years is not going to make anything happen faster.
Replying to @SpaceNews_Inc
It's Apollo all over again. Shame they lost the dies and blueprints.

Elon Musk has said that there’s no point in returning to the moon other than to build a moon base. Artemis is going there only to plant the flag. So they’re upset he hasn’t imbibed the Artemis program Kool-Aid but is a part of it.
Replying to @SpaceNews_Inc
Why are we over complicating this objective? On orbit refueling? Launching multiple vehicles on multiple missions? Simplify it! SLS and Artemis are way overcomplicated

@grok was it possible to land humans on the moon in 1969 to 1962?
Replying to @SpaceNews_Inc
.....we ALREADY beat china to the moon.....in the 60s. FFS they are almost 60 years too late!!!!

We already beat China and everyone else to the moon in 1969... What is the point of this fear porn when they demonstrate starship reusability then worry until then leave the innovation to SpaceX

Sounds to me like Bolden has a more sensible view of things than either of Trump's administrators. We already beat China to the moon. The notion that we have to be first and second on the moon is just childish.
