We are very saddened to report that DIE ANOTHER DAY director Lee Tamahori has passed away. We were blessed to have interviewed him a few years ago and he was exceptionally generous with his time. His passion for all things Bond was truly immense. Thank you Lee, here’s to you🍸

That was a terrific interview with him and his film Once Were Warriors is phenomenal. Sad news.

More people should appreciate Die Another Day a lot more, ya’ll bashed on his direction but he was trying to give something new and I always really enjoyed it, he also gave the best ending for Brosnan’s Bond, it’s not perfect but Lee clearly put love and effort into it, RIP Lee…

He loves James Bond, and whilst it’s not a perfect film, it shows.

Sad to hear. I’ve always been a big DAD defender, it’s just a really fun, entertaining watch. But the first half up until Iceland is a genuinely great Bond film.

Damn! I can't believe it! I admire his honesty of Die Another Day! You guys did a great job in making him come out of his shell and letting him reveal the entire production history, what didn't work and the shift of the later films being more like the Bourne films. Very sad.

RIP. I really love The Edge.

I didn't hate Die Another Day but his utilization of CGI was ridiculous to say the least. His 2 best films are Once Were Warriors and The Edge, I think!

DAD may have its flaws, tonally & conceptually, but it gave post-9/11 audiences the thing they needed most in the moment: escape. Tamahori understood the assignment. DAD is a slick, visually dynamic, propulsive, & handsome as hell action flick.

He wanted his Bond movie to be fun, a celebration. It was too much, too overdone but as there are no bad EON Bond films he got away with it...just. RIP Mr Tamahori.

RIP The average fan didn’t realize his commitment to Die Another Day Forget the bad BS about CGI Remember Jinx coming out of the water and Bond sitting alone in his office
