I don’t recall saying I had fun growing up.
But this is what empathy looks like in real life —
feeling someone’s pain deeply enough to write it without filters.

I started working as a salesperson to help out with the bills.
Did I last? (chuckles) How would I — when I was juggling school, work, and parenting?
Eventually, I had to drop out so my siblings could continue.
Because Dad decided to rest… and I had to rise. 🙏

Waking up by 4 a.m., sleeping by 1 a.m.,
and still hearing:
“You don’t take care of yourself o.”
“When I was your age, I did more and didn’t complain.” 😒
They didn’t know behind my tired eyes was a child who never got to be one. 😔

Before I could say Jack, a mini-me was already on her way. 😑
So I became a midwife, a mom, and a husband — because Dad chose eternal rest. 💔
I did school runs and became a celebrity in the local market.

Boys grow fast, they say — but responsibilities grow faster.
From early mornings to late nights and restless middays,
I didn’t know what siesta meant. 😏
I just knew my “son” shouldn’t disturb Mumsy when she was sleeping.

Scratch that — my son was on his way.
I just wasn’t carrying him inside me… 🤗
I was carrying the person who carried him. Phew. 😮💨
