Angelina Jolie went to Kherson, where Russian drones hunt civilians daily in a “human safari”. That takes courage. I can’t help but praise her selflessness and kindness in choosing to help draw attention to Ukrainian civilians, especially children, suffering from the war.

Now is the time to stop the killing and for an immediate ceasefire. Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil companies that fund the Kremlin’s war machine. Treasury is prepared to take further action if necessary to support President Trump’s effort to end yet another war. We encourage our allies to join us in and adhere to these sanctions.

The children of Kharkiv. Some of them have not known a single day of peace.
This in Ukraine’s second largest city is OK, but selling Ukraine the Tomahawk missiles that could strike Russian drone-making plants is an escalation.
Kharkiv. Emergency workers console children they pulled from a kindergarten hit by a Russian drone. As always after Putin’s calls with Trump, Russia ramps up its attacks on Ukraine.

Putin launched nearly 500 drones and missiles against Ukraine overnight, killing a 7-year-old child and injuring dozens of civilians. But none of that matters to Trump, who wrote nothing about the attack and instead thanked Putin for calling Trump worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.

For the first time, I agree with everything Trump says below about the war in Ukraine, but I have a bad feeling about it. He seems to be walking away from trying to end the fighting, wishing ‘good luck to all’.

Just look at the faces of Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials as Trump boasts at the UN about his ‘good relationship’ with Putin:
Ukraine and Poland have agreed to form a joint drone force that will run training programmes for their troops to counter Russian air attacks. Poland’s defence minister described the deal as “crucial for the transformation of the Polish army and for NATO as a whole.”

A powerful message from King Charles during Trump’s visit to the UK: “Today, as tyranny once again threatens Europe, we and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine to deter aggression and secure peace.”

In Trump’s world, the war in Ukraine is everyone’s fault but Putin’s.

This is how the headquarters of Ukraine’s government now looks after this morning's Russian attack. Our whole team works in this building daily. Fortunately, no one was injured. Russian barbarism will not halt the work of Ukraine’s government. The walls will be repaired, they are only bricks, but the lives of our people can’t be restored. In this night’s Russian attack 4 people killed and 44 injured. What is clear is that Russia does not want peace. I urge the world to turn outrage over Russian crimes into concrete support for Ukraine. Not for the walls of this building, but to protect our people and communities across the country. We need stronger air defense – more systems and more ammunition – to shield our cities and our energy system as winter approaches. We need tougher sanctions that will deprive the aggressor of oil and gas revenues, the very resources funding its terror. Only by standing strong and united can we bring an end to Russian aggression and secure peace.
When Zelensky was asked to describe the security guarantees finalised at the Coalition of the Willing summit, the word he reached for was ‘theoretical’. Below is my latest on theoretical guarantees for a theoretical ceasefire in Ukraine: spectator.co.uk/article/the-…

Larry the Cat has no idea how much I love him. What a gem of British politics. Plus, the person running his account is always so supportive of Ukraine!

We have just sent our first fortnightly edition of The Spectator for the US market. And it's a gem. The cover piece, by @bdomenech, is on the military conflict that MAGA wants. It could not be more timely:
A Russian air strike targeted personnel of a humanitarian demining mission in Chernihiv, killing at least one and injuring many more. Yet another war crime, another breach of the Geneva Conventions Putin couldn’t care less about.

Top trolling from Lithuania's former Foreign Minister after suspected Russian jamming forced the EU Commission President's plane to land in Bulgaria using paper maps.
Deeply concerned to hear about the deeply concerning GPS interference that diverted @vonderleyen's flight. Europe stands united in expression of deep concerns and must commit to the deployment of ever-deepening concerns moving forward.
