It unfolded across Lake Chad islands in Abadam and Kukawa LGAs, Borno State—including Sahel 1, Dogon Chuku, Mangari—and riverine routes from Tumbun Gini to Dumba. JAS (Boko Haram's mainstream faction) repelled an ISWAP amphibious offensive using motorized boats and heavy weapons, overrunning enemy camps amid a brutal turf war over extortion rackets, smuggling corridors, and seasonal island strongholds. Casualties estimated at 100-200, mostly ISWAP fighters (bodies adrift or in shallow graves); survivors fled to mainland redoubts like Metele. This escalation was fueled by splintered loyalties since 2016, and it weakens both groups but however spikes civilian ambush risks and Sahel-wide instability without cross-border ISR coordination.
