Trump and Viktor Orban will meet at Mar-a-Lago less than a week after the Hungarian prime minister met with Putin in Moscow -- which is likely to fan concerns Orban is working as an intermediary between Putin and Trump.
Per sources, Trump has not asked Orban to lay the groundwork for some sort of Ukraine-Russia peace deal.
Orban also paid a visit to Xi Jinping in China this week, following a trip to Azerbaijan earlier.
Hungary took over the European Union’s rotating presidency July 1. EU officials have criticized Orban’s travels, arguing they could undermine the 27-member bloc’s positions on global issues.
