.@igorbobic: If Republicans block ACA subsidies, would you be willing to shut down the government again on Jan 30 when funding runs out? Sen. Shaheen: “That’s certainly an option that I think everybody will consider.”

10 thoughts on the shutdown. But, really, you don't have to reads these. there's a lot of takes out there. 1. Dems clearly lost on their main objectives: extending subsidies+ ending rescissions. Can't spin that 2. Dems run real risk of depressing a base that just began to think they were fighting/had a winning hand 3. Dems succeeded in elevating health care as a salient issue. 4. Trump does now take ownership/heat for premium hikes to come 5. Hostage taking works. Especially around SNAP and flights. Lawmakers got spooked. 6. It's not the worst thing in the world so try and save hostages! 7. But it doesn't bode well for future shutdown fights (and there will be more) that Republicans know they can do this. 8. And yet.... Dems have apparently removed SNAP as a hostage for any future shutdown fight (not insignificant) 9. Dems believe that RIFs are now off table. The CR language forbids them (and if they extend the CR, they will remain forbidden). Plus, judges have ruled you can't RIF during a shutdown (should we end up back in one). 9a. Trump will surely challenge this. 10. Almost all of this won't impact the midterms. At this point in the 2013 shutdown people were convinced Republicans had just screwed themselves. Within days everyone was talking about a failed website launch related to the health care law whose subsidies we just waged a shutdown over. -fin-

"They are not revenue-raising tariffs." - Solicitor General John Sauer before Supreme Court this past Wednesday.
BREAKING: Gavin Newsom comes out AGAINST Chuck Schumer’s DEAL.
ICE pours large canister of pepper spray directly into family car—hitting 1-year-old baby. "They were simply shopping at Sam's Club," said Matt, who filmed this video. "ICE agents drove by and sprayed pepper spray directly inside—where their baby and 16-year-old sister sat." "We got the family to Lawndale Christian Health Center for care and support." The incident occurred outside Sam's Club near 26th Street and Ogden Avenue in Cicero, Illinois. #DemsUnited

It’s hard to blame the SNAP benefits on Democrats when Senile Satan has gone to every court available to stop them.
USDA orders states to stop paying full SNAP benefits and "immediately undo" steps taken to issue them for November. Follow live updates. cnn.it/3LB4GwG
REMINDER: President Biden NEVER cut SNAP payments, never even had a government shutdown. In fact, he cut child poverty in half. He cut child hunger, too. I miss having a REAL President.
Trump admin tells states to “undo” food stamp benefits: “To the extent States sent full SNAP payment files for November 2025, this was unauthorized. Accordingly, States must immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025.“
I’m still shocked that stories like this which come out daily still get largely ignored. The most corrupt person to ever hold any public office in US history. I will keep posting them every day and try to amplify them, even when most media doesn’t care. wsj.com/finance/currencies/b…

It’s time to restore trade policymaking to the legislative branch. PPI featured in today’s @nytimes coverage of Trump-era tariffs: Trump used Section 232 to target over a third of U.S. imports—invoking national security to bypass Congress. nytimes.com/2025/11/05/us/po…
Vice President JD Vance (https://has said it’s “totally reasonable and acceptable” for Americans to not want to live next to people who speak a different language or come from “a totally different culture.” Its why he's not welcome in so many places. apple.news/AlpCzUjrCRpSomt7t…
.@KenBurns drops some knowledge: "People always complain in our, in our divided, dialectical, preoccupied world that, you know, oh, you're taking away my history. No, we're not. We're just pulling back and we're just saying, there are a lot more people here than you think."
Trump claiming you’ll get a $2k tariff refund. -The average American has paid more than that in tariffs ($3k-$5k+) and cost increases (+$2k) -This doesn’t lower prices. -It adds $400B to the national debt to rebate 2/3rds of Americans $2k each. -The Supreme Court is currently talking about striking down Trump’s tariff and forcing them to refund Americans anyway - but Trump is trying to frame this as his idea “for the people” Trump constantly makes people’s lives worse, then cuts them a check with his name on it, because he thinks they are too stupid to realize that they’ve lost more than that check. …and sadly for a lot of America… he’s right. Trump will cost them $7k and give them a check for $2k, and they’ll eat it up.

just making stuff up
My son can’t even go on a field trip or take an Advil without my consent. So why do schools think they have the right to “transition” a child without asking Mom & Dad? Tradition, precedent, and the Constitution are on the side of parents.

It’s revealing that whenever Trump feels like he’s losing political capital he turns into the biggest socialist

The cracks around the cult-of-Trump are increasing. Most independents, and even now some hard-core MAGA people are realizing that they voted for a fraud, a grifter, and someone who is not a conservative as evidenced by his embrace of tariffs, which have been proven to be a tax on consumers, something no real conservative would enact. Trump is quickly proving he is against free trade and is enacting pro-isolationist policies, which will only be regressive in terms of our economy. He ran (successfully) against Biden on tackling inflation and getting back to a growth economy, however, he is now facing the same problems due to his tariffs, and economically illiterate policies, including pissing off all of our allies (vs confronting our enemies). Furthermore, Trump‘s brand is crumbling. Having Great Gatsby like parties while people are about to go off of SNAP is about the worst optics of all time. Obviously Trump doesn’t have any real advisors, merely pathetic sycophants who couldn’t get a job in any administration outside his cult, fawning over him and telling him what he wants to hear. His polls are tanking for all the above reasons. Unless the GOP can reject Trumpism after he’s gone, they have a long road back to being a legitimate party based on the absolute damage Trump has done by turning the party into a cult, a fringe, clownish, conspiracy-pushing movement has completely lost its conservative roots.
