You never know how big something can GROW... after planting the first seed. "Going the extra mile" has been a theme I've run with for 30+ years; it's in sooo much of my work. (I even named one of my dogs EMi for "E-xtra Mi-le"). BUT… My biggest "extra-mile" success is creating "Extra Mile Day" on November 1. Started in 2009... My intention was to recognize those individuals and organizations "going the extra mile" in volunteerism, service and contribution to make life just a bit better for others in their local communities. In the inaugural year… I was elated 23 cities jumped in on my crazy mission and participated. Sixteen years later…today...on November 1, 2024...520+ cities across the United States will participate.
