The world needs honest and courageous entrepreneurs and communicators who care for the common good. We sometimes hear the saying: “Business is business!” In reality, it is not so. No one is absorbed by an organization to the point of becoming a mere cog or a simple function. Nor can there be true humanism without a critical sense, without the courage to ask questions: "Where are we going? For whom and for what are we working? How are we making the world a better place?"

Celebrating Mass on the occasion of the Dedication of the Basilica of St John Lateran, Pope Leo XIV reflects on the Church, urging the faithful to be ‘free from the criteria of the world, which too often demands immediate results because it does not know the wisdom of waiting’. ‘Jesus changes us and calls us to work in God's great construction site, wisely shaping us according to His plans for salvation.’ ‘In Rome,’ says the Pope, ‘there is a great good that grows’ beyond the hardships. On the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, celebrated each year on November 9th, Pope Leo compared the living Church to the strong foundations of Rome’s Cathedral, St. John Lateran, encouraging us to “dig deep” and “with humility and patience, and God’s help, to build a true community of faith.”

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome, "Omnium urbis et orbis Ecclesiarum Mater et Caput" or The Mother of all the Churches of Rome and the world. Let today serve as a reminder of the past and universality of the church.

As we diligently labor in the service of God’s Kingdom, let us be neither hasty nor superficial. Let us dig deep, unhindered by worldly criteria, which too often demand immediate results and disregard the wisdom of waiting.

It’s Saturday, the day of the week devoted to Our Blessed Mother. We should especially think of her during November, when we intensify our prayers for the faithful departed, because one of the many titles we have for her is the “Gate of Heaven.” @thegnewsroom

CLT Airport has been incredibly fortunate to reach the sixth weekend of the federal shutdown with minimal operational impacts, due in large part to the continued dedication of our Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Air Traffic Control (ATC) partners, who are working without pay. With a prolonged federal shutdown, disruptions become more likely. This morning, CLT experienced staffing constraints in the ATC tower, one of many contributing factors to delays and cancellations within the national airspace system. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their airline before coming to the Airport and arrive at the terminal at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international flights. We ask passengers for patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation together. CLT is extremely grateful for our dedicated partners — especially TSA and ATC employees — for their continued commitment to ensuring travelers reach their destinations safely.

An update on the FAA directive: Due to the ongoing government shutdown and nationwide air traffic control staffing shortages, the FAA directed airlines to reduce schedules to maintain safe airspace operations. While this will impact our operation, we are still operating the vast majority of our schedule. We are avoiding cancellations for long-haul international flights and minimizing cancellations on hub-to-hub routes. A travel alert has been issued that allows customers additional flexibility and to request a refund without any penalty if they are traveling during the impact period. For the most up-to-date information, please visit our newsroom: news.aa.com We encourage everyone to check their flight status on the American app or aa.com We’re deeply grateful to federal aviation workers who continue working without pay to keep our skies safe.
