I have been informed that Rukungiri’s
@BoonaFm is closed tonight midnight until further notice. I will not seek to litigate
@UCC_Official decision. But I have listened to the shrill voices of Rukungiri people that rightly or wrongly allege that the two Generals running for political office in Rukungiri will be in the eagles 🦅 eye. Accordingly— One General will be accused and celebrated for closing the Radio and thus hope to gain advantage for potential political victory. Another General will in fashion vehemently, cynically seek to fight for reinstatement of
@BoonaFm license in hope for political victory. It’s also very plausible and clearly likely, this chaos will propel the two Generals to victory. Did the Comrade Generals plot? Perhaps YES or NO! Do their supporters understand what’s going on? Perhaps YES or NO. Personally, I am a free debate person and unless there is evidence of genocidal broadcasting, radios should be given unfettered space to operate. Secondly, the NRA/ NRM is an ideological and debate present platform. NRA/NRM extinguishes lies optimally. As long as media gives platform to contestation of ideas — that is good media because it allows superior ideas to reign. And our people of Rukungiri and Uganda are not naive, they fathom logic.
PRAYER:
1. Let
@UCC_Official make its evidence for closure of Boona FM Open. Law should be respected.
2. Political leaders in Rukungiri should not use this issue for partisan advantage and further divide the people.
3. NRM recovered popular support through adaptive and hard work. The current NRM Chairman Gen.
@jkmuhwezi was relentless and remains steadfast and delivered. Let this Boona FM issue not divide the district and advantage opposition forces.
4. Boona FM can’t be erased in the life of Rukungiri and wider Kigezi and perhaps DRC. We must find a way to work with Boona FM, find a middle ground and keep our people on a transformative path.
