Here’s the REAL solution to Social Security. 1. First, acknowledge that’s OUR money! 2. It is not a gift from the government. We earned it and gave it to the government to hold for DECADES. 3. Instead of raising the retirement age or increasing withholding or means testing or any other proposal to effectively steal our money, get out your calculator and find the number to fully fund everyone’s Social Security account and factor in a minimum 5% growth compounded annually. 4. When you calculate that number, and it’s in the Trillion$, start over on your proposals to pay retirees. 5. When the government returns to surpluses, a minimum of 60% of annual surpluses go directly to the Social Security Trust Fund until it is180% funded. 6. Once fully funded, i.e. the government has replaced ALL of our retirement savings plus interest, phase in new retirement options. 7. New retirement options include retire at ANY age you decide to retire after age 50. If you die before age 50, the entirety of your SSI savings is goes to your chosen beneficiaries, tax free. 8. Since it’s our money and will be fully funded, we can withdraw as much or as little as we want on a monthly basis. Tax free. This is how to “fix” social security. For someone who stands on “principles” and “defends liberty” you do NEITHER with these proposals to “save” SSI. The number one thing that artificially inflates the price of groceries is the food stamp program. The federal government is subsidizing groceries for 40 million people which obviously drives up the cost. That's why the increase in the cost of groceries tracks exactly with the increase in the number of people on food stamps. So as a functional, contributing, working American, you're getting scammed twice. Once when the government steals from your paycheck and gives it to EBT recipients, and again when you go to the grocery store. You're paying twice so that morbidly obese people can buy Doritos on your dime. Infuriating.
