Genuine advice for patriotic Americans of Indian or Jewish descent:
Chill out about the ethnocentric stuff. The worst PR you can get, the stuff that all-but-guarantees interethnic resentment, is the grievance mongering, alternatively gloating, and generally, fixation on your ethnic group.
For example on the grievance side, the ADL has done far more to advance anti-semitism than any Gazapoaster, JQer etc. Jewish paranoia and neuroticism is a guaranteed self-fulfilling prophecy and at the heart of the "cries out in pain as he strikes you" criticism. It's fine feel worried, but don't involve the rest of us in your neuroses.
On the gloating side, special celebrations of niche, non-American religious festivals or rites is tone deaf at a time when Americans are struggling and feel like nobody goes to bat for them.
The best PR for the Jews is Stephen Miller, who is singularly focused on making America Great. He never mentions Israel or Judaism, he's purely locked in to advance the interests America and Americans. Randy Fine was doing fine (heh) until he started bitching about anti-semitism.
The best PR for Indians is Naval or Balaji, who wisely - to my knowledge - remain silent while Americans rightly throw a fit about Indian fraud and abuse. Indian Bronson OTOH, a longtime mutual, blocked me recently presumably over my h-1b poasting.
Develop some thicker skin. If these criticisms don't apply to you personally, don't take it personally, and don't try to censor people who are venting. If you identify as an American primarily, why should these criticisms land on you? If you're one of the good ones, you don't have to say "I'm one of the good ones".
As a general rule, 99% of the time, American patriots of Indian descent should just leave any topic relating to India and Indians alone. Likewise American patriots of Jewish descent. This is an area you're apparently unable to think dispassionately, so just leave it alone. You've got a bias/conflict of interest, leave the topic to other patriots. Remaining quiet is always an option, and is usually the best one.
How about commenting on this festival? It seems like the future belongs to the poop-throwers.
