Hate to break it to everyone, but that house isn't going to be standing in 50 years.

Why not? Most older US homes were made with nails?.

For those that do not know, those are Simpson hangers and are supposed to be screwed not nailed. That house will fall apart.

I actually caught a guy cutting nails and he was just hammering in the heads of nails in straps. Literally 1/4" long nails. Another time, we got faulty air gun nails and nobody told us. We later found out you could just pull the nails out with you bare hands. Don't buy a new home. The labor market is dog ass when it comes to talent.

In Arizona I know people down here who have bought a home and haven't been able to move in because of how many things are messed up They literally live in their RVs in their garage It's insane

You could literally use an impact driver and have that done in the same amount of time

It is diverse equitable and inclusive wood…the wood flows into the screw threads;

American houses are practically disposable anyway.

That head is for removing the screw.
Replying to @VladTheInflator
This is why we need immigration. Americans just aren't willing to hammer lag bolts Sad

as a diy maxxer i'd love to look at this beam over time just to see if those screws stay put or actually come out. if the right gauge, and they stay in, then it really doesn't change much. having never hammered a screw honestly i don't know what will happen.

No way in hell I’d buy a new house from some company. So overpriced and made like crap. That’s if I even had money. It’s a financial dystopia. The old ones that are “affordable” is where not only the good deals are at but the only ones that will be left standing. Black rock and air BnB are buying up all those ones tho

It would have actually taken less time and effort with a power driver. It also would have a longer lasting hold. Construction foreman should have seen it and called it out.
