Game would’ve pissed off half of the US who believes the Civil War was about States Rights & not slavery despite the Confederacy declaration saying they are doing this because they wanted slaves
Ok Just read this. They canceled it because the game would have you play as a black guy who escaped from slavery and would be fighting the confederate and KKK and the backlash from Shadows was too much for them to continue.

With Ubisoft it's always one step forward and two steps back. This game would've made a RIDICULOUS amount of money. I would've livestreamed it and done two straight playthrough, talking shit to everybody who had a problem with it the ENTIRE time.

They should have done a civil war one where the player is black and gets to help free slaves. Just watching the losers blow gaskets over it would have been worth the making and release.
