Why I'm done with Hamilton and Jefferson, and with engaging with mainstream scholarship on them, and am instead writing a romp about Burr: williamhogeland.substack.com…

If this were at all accurate--it's not, neither the tendentious characterization of a supposed type nor the supposed demographics--it would show what, again?
Lmao these are all the neighborhoods where the tryhard transplants who can’t hack it live.
Madison organized enough House yes votes for Hamilton's assumption plan that he could cover his ass and vote no.

I don't particularly care that they lost this fight, what is disturbing is they picked a fight they never had any intention of winning.
... and why the field doesn't really exist.

Hip-to-waist ratio, fellas. It's a human universal, all across the world. Because it's a sign of a woman who can pop out babies like a boss 😆 This is day-one stuff in the field of evolutionary psychology.

"Nothing but a construct" vs. "universal standards" may be the stupidest debate of our stupid times.
If female beauty is just a “social construct,” as the woke insist, why does Sydney Sweeney break the internet every time she shows off her body? It turns out there are well-established (and well-evidenced) evolutionary explanations for universal standards of female beauty. Evolutionary psychologist Aaron Lukaszewski (@SpeciesTypical) walks us through the latest research on why certain female body types consistently captivate us. For science! 🔗realityslaststand.com/p/the-…

It's been interesting to see all the people all over the country with no idea about NYC neighborhoods wax authoritative about NYC neighborhoods.

"She just smiled and said 'some babies never learn'..." "...supposedly serious people building dreams of mass spiritual transformation on what is in fact just a presidential bid by an incumbent vice president, undertaken under bizarre and awkward circumstances..."

Wrote about Giridharadas back in those heady heady days: williamhogeland.substack.com…

I see that dude Anand Giridharadas there--seems like only last year he was promising us that Tim Walz and Kamala Harris were leading the way to a beautiful place where old white men would be schooled by example in the joy of having a black woman boss.

Reasons not to watch late night talk.
🚨 NEW: Stephen Colbert Says the Role of Late Night TV is to Tell You How to Think About the News “We're like your friend who … paid attention to the news more than you did … and then we curate that back to you at the end of the day. But it's really more about how we feel about it … I'm really performing for the audience and the camera captures it.”

I guess I'd prefer that the mayor-elect of NYC didn't come from an academic and artistic background, but what are you gonna do.

Most Brooklynites I know buy meat at Costco.
Replying to @AlexYablon
I want to do a web series where I just take Brooklynites to the Costco meat section.

The left?
The left is assiduously tutoring its minions in the double standard, as in Orwell's Animal Farm.

I know nobody in the commentariat cares, but the key ballot initiatives coming out of the Adams-developer-abundance-deregulation scene passed. Mamdani revealed his support for them on election day.

Bookmarked.
To everyone saying NYC won't change, some prognostications from someone who saw this movie in SF: 1. It'll be crime season: unfettered shoplifting, car break-ins, assaults, all of it. 2. The wealthy will insulate themselves via security and private spaces, and the working class will suffer the most as they depend on public infra. 3. Schools likely wrecked as selective programs canceled for equity reasons: once again, the wealthy opt for private, and the smart poor kids screwed 4. Jews living in fear as antisemitic attacks (already high) increase. Synagogues' security fees go up as NYPD pulled from guard duty. Everything Israel-related sanctioned, canceled, denounced. 5. Rents will skyrocket as landlords either pull properties from the market, or demand sky-high premiums upfront. Again, the wealthy can pay, but the poor will lose. 6. NYC media flying cover for all of it No recalls in NYC (unlike SF), so it'll just be this way for years. Eventually a return to sanity. NYC won't die of course, it'll just suck for a bit.

This kind of first-person witness is an old, not to say trite form with religious underpinnings.
"The young people who support Mamdani are good people, just putting their efforts towards the wrong solutions. I should know, I was once one of them."
You know there are movies you can watch on TV?
