Can we just do this once somewhere in Europe or America? I want to feel the way I felt when I saw this for the first time, but in real life.

The rock sculpture of Decebalus is a colossal carving of the face of Decebalus (r. AD 87–106), the last king of Dacia, who fought against the Roman emperors Domitian and Trajan. The sculpture is located near the city of Orșova, in Mehedinți County. It was made between 1994 and 2004, on a rocky outcrop on the river Danube, at the Iron Gates, which form the border between Romania and Serbia. The Dacian king's sculpture is the tallest rock relief in Europe, at 55 m (180 ft) in height and 25 m (82 ft) in width.

Everyone's posting real-life images that are meant to be similar to this, but they all suck compared to the image from the movie. So OP is correct. Let's build this thing.

I know exactly what you’re talking about, I completely agree, and I want statues like this at the mouth of the Chicago river for boats entering the city

Be careful what you wish for. Twin statues of Donald Trump framing Hoover dam are all too possible.

Removing the Nazi salute, I'd pick Reagan and Roosevelt, to give both sides of American power. Or Obama and Trump to spice things up.

Just take a trip to the Hoover dam. Because the only way we're getting public art like this again is if rich Americans commission it themselves.

The original design for Mount Rushmore was much bigger but WWII prevented the funds from being allocated.

hoover dam is art deco in and out. no way to get photos so most don't know. have to go to appreciate. America has many places like that. Every county has a court house and many are magnificent. City folks forget there is 1,900,000,000 acres to explore.

Do you watch the Expanse? There's a scene in there where they talk about how humans used to do projects that would span generations or even centuries. The people starting the project knowing they wouldn't see the end. That doesn't happen anymore and we've lost something.
