This man here killed Deborah in 2022. He openly admitted to killing her. He gleefully displayed the matchbox he used to burn her alive. Deborah was a Christian girl whose only offence was requesting that a school WhatsApp group should not be used for Islamic broadcast messages. She was falsely accused of blasphemy, she was hunted down by bigoted animals, she was ambushed on a road in broad daylight, stoned by these marauding terrorists, beaten and burnt to death. Till this moment: NOT ONE PERSON has been convicted and jailed for her murder. The man in this picture was never found, never caught, never prosecuted. This horrifying act is not just an assault on one man, it is an attack on the entire teaching profession. A teacher who stood for discipline and integrity was beaten, had his limbs broken, and eventually died from his injuries. What a painful reflection of moral decay and loss of values in our schools and homes! I call on the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Ogbomoso Zone, TESCOM, and law enforcement authorities to act swiftly and decisively. Those students must be arrested, prosecuted, and made to face the full weight of the law. Their parents, too, must not escape responsibility. Silence at this moment is complicity. Teachers are not slaves. We are nation builders,deserving of protection, respect, and dignity in the line of duty. Let this be the last time any teacher’s blood is shed in vain. Seven months after the tragic death of 16-year-old Ransford Owusu Ansah, who was allegedly sodomized by his coach, justice remains elusive. I grew up in the next town, Odumase next to Abehenease, two of my juniors in Jhs fell victim of this and that experience changed their sexuality, lifestyle and even education till date.
