I guess now a lot more people agree with what I said three months ago about XPeng humanoids.
If it enters mass production, I think XPENG IRON could become one of the strongest competitors to Tesla Optimus. XPENG’s already a top EV player in China, and they’re really good at autonomous driving too.

I think its hard to stand out from the noise with so many good humanoid companies

It’s actually pretty insane how many humanoid companies there are. Feels like a new one pops up every week

Still not single robot can wash the dishes or cook homemade meals. Even bringing the clothes over from the wardrobe or obtaining items from the drawers is not possible by any one of them. They just making them dance here and there at every reveal party that's it.
Yeah it’s definitely not an easy thing to build! Turns out washing the dishes is actually super difficult Still really cool to see people working on these
I find the hype around humanoid robots utterly outdated. We keep marveling at machines that can walk, run, stand up, and process basic tasks (at least in my view). This obsession with biomimetics rather than real usefulness leads to a sterile form of robotics. While we’re busy rebuilding a body, we forget to design a "mind"
I think most of the companies working on humanoids are focusing pretty heavily on the ai/brain side There are also a bunch of companies working on generalized robotics models eg the LLM equivalents (mostly VLMs) My take is that there is still a LONG way to go both on dexterity and on the intelligence side, but imo still one of the most fascinating things to be working on
25-year-old idea, they practically put them in kids learning boxes.

for sure, the ideas been around for god knows how long, but seeing so many companies actually executing on cutting edge humanoids is still awesome

I'm afraid we might have to move to Mars because robots will occupy Earth 😂😂

Most of the new humanoid robot companies are coming out of China. I don’t think Western countries even realize there’s a robot race happening.

We will see what happens after 10 years, when everything settles. I wonder what's going to make the ones that win, win.
the ccp is actively involved in the providing funding to these robotic and ai companies.

Is the "paperless" desk really tidy? We thought going paperless would clear our desks, but now they're just cluttered with devices needing a charge. Wireless mice, speakers, tablets, phones all fighting for an outlet. To end this "epic outlet war," we designed a desk lamp.
