I am saddened by the passing of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, E.G.H., former Prime Minister of Kenya. A foremost nationalist and defender of democracy. A great pan-Africanist. A people-centered leader. Kenya has lost one of its most illustrious leaders. Africa has lost a strong pillar and defender of democracy. He taught us how to be resilient. He rose up each time in the face of challenges, striving and running towards his life’s mission. His legacy of remarkable dedication to public service, being a voice for the voiceless, expanding the democratic space, and driving for Africa’s self-reliance will continue to endure and inspire generations of Africans to come. Kenya will miss his visionary, empowering and charismatic leadership. Africa will miss his inspiring gallantry, dauntlessness and un-cowed voice. May God comfort his dear wife Mrs. Ida Betty Odinga and family. I commiserate with H.E. President William Ruto, C.G.H., and the government and people of Kenya, on the passing of one of Kenya’s and Africa’s most revered political leaders. May his soul rest in peace. @WilliamsRuto @IdaOdinga @MusaliaMudavadi

Hearty congratulations to our dearest sister @VisserLola as she turns 75 years today. You are unique in many ways: very kind, generous, selfless, dedicated, truthful and honest. You are one of the most sincere, dependable and fiercely loyal persons I know. Thank you very much for all your support. I appreciate your rallying and supporting the youth and mentoring them with patriotism. Nigeria is fortunate to have such an incredibly patriotic person like you with integrity in all her dealings. May God grant you much joy, happiness and blessings. Grace and I love and appreciate you and wish you a happy birthday and many happy returns. ❤️❤️

Hearty congratulations to my brother, Dr @akin_adesina as he bows out as President of the African Development Bank Group. It was a pleasure to join family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers in Abidjan yesterday, at the ceremony to celebrate him and launch a book in his honour.

🔥 The Legacy Adesina reframed development from aid to investment. He proved that Africa’s future will be built on capital, innovation & partnerships — not charity. “Africa is not a problem to solve, but a promise to be fulfilled.”

When Dr. @akin_adesina pitched his vision for @AfDB_Group, it wasn’t just about an election. It was a blueprint for Africa’s future — built on investment, innovation & dignity. A 🧵 on his decade of impact at AfDB:
Thank you very much Your Excellency @ProfOsinbajo for joining us with your lovely wife Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo and the eminent leaders from Nigeria. Having you there in Abidjan on September 1, 2015 to witness my swearing-in as President of the African Development Bank @AfDB_Group and again ten years later as I ended my term, was truly very memorable and special. Yemisi and I are grateful to you and our dear sister Dolly for your friendship, love and support. You have always been there for us, as a family, at every event. May we always have great and joyful things to celebrate together. Many thanks!🙏🏽💕
Ten years ago on September 1, 2015, I stood in this very hall in Abidjan as Vice President of Nigeria to witness the inauguration of my brother and friend, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina @akin_adesina, as President of the African Development Bank. Today, a decade later, I returned to the same podium to celebrate his final day in office after ten remarkable years of visionary leadership at the Bank. Dolly and I were joined by the Hon. Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite @drdorisanite (representing the President of Nigeria), the Hon. Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the Governor of Oyo State, HE Seyi Makinde @seyi_amakinde , the Governor of Plateau State, HE Caleb Muftang, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, HE Noimot Salako-Oyedele @noimot.oyedele , and the Oniru of Iruland, HRH Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal @hrmoniru , who once served as Lagos State’s Commissioner for Agriculture. It was also a joy, as always, to be warmly hosted by Dr. Adesina’s wonderful wife, Yemisi Adesina. 📸: @_kdproductions
