And that's a wrap for #RLS2025! The "Magnificent 7" - partner regions of the Regional Leaders' Summit - have worked hard to solidify our existing partnerships and build new ones. The RLS is ultimately about hope - hope that collaboration can deliver real change, growth and jobs.

Day 2 of the Regional Leaders Summit ✅ We began with the opening plenary, where we reaffirmed our commitment to continue building this international partnership around our shared priorities: growth and jobs. And this afternoon in Delft, it was all about partnerships! We renewed our 30 year old Joint Action Plan with our Bavarian friends. It was an important reminder that the work we do internationally is ultimately for our communities here at home. A key highlight today was the formal signing of new cooperation agreements, reinforcing our commitment to skills development, agriculture, innovation and youth opportunity. These signings form the foundation for practical work that will support growth and create real opportunities for our residents. A meaningful and successful day, and we look forward to keeping up the momentum as the programme continues.

Education needs a facelift. The entire education environment, from pre-school to post-graduate education, needs to be reimagined and aligned with emerging skills requirements. Life-long learning must become an imperative, not simply a ‘nice-to-have’. Today, we brought leaders across government, education, and industry together for the Premier’s Council on Skills united by one mission: building clear pathways from classrooms to careers. By aligning education with the needs of a fast-changing economy, we are furure-proofing, preparing young people with the technical, digital, and human skills our province needs to grow.

Excited to see a new era for Langeberg Foods and its Ashton factory which was facing closure not so long ago. Now, thousands of jobs have been saved thanks to a new partnership and a shared commitment to our economy. Here's to more jobs and growth! 👏

Dis lekker in Riversdal! ⚡ From seeing the exciting progress at the Hessequa solar project which was announced earlier this year to meeting the dedicated team at Hessequa Municipality and stopping by the Riversdale Clinic, it’s inspiring to see how this community is creating jobs, investing in people, and powering up opportunities through local businesses like Shoprite Riversdale, FreshStop, and Mr Classen’s aluminium enterprise. Hessequa is shining bright with energy and innovation!

I joined commuters on a train from Chris Hani Station in Khayelitsha to Cape Town. 🚆 It was great to chat with residents along the way and hear how their daily journeys have improved. Reliable public transport is key to connecting communities and opportunities across the Western Cape.
