OH CANADA: The Canadian government is finally going to slaughter 400 healthy ostriches to prove they can. Despite offers from the US to save the birds the Canadian government is committed to the cull.

OH CANADA: Canadian authorities shot and killed the entire flock of healthy ostriches at Katie's Universal Ostrich Farm. It is a dark day for Canada...

Same international laws apply to USA. This is another example of why we should not ever sign on to this bullcrap.

Hey @grok why is Canada doing this? For what? Makes no sense.

I think there's more to this than the public knows. I read groks responses to various queries, and they "sort of" hold water - but those birds have not been quarantined effectively enough to prevent bird flue from proliferating - wild birds fly in and out of those enclosures every minute of the day. It is high migration season. The ship has completely sailed on containing any possibility of bird flu proliferation up and down the Americas. I don't know if this is government bureaucratic stupidity or if there is more to it but they have let these birds live in the open since this battle began. I don't hear of any outbreaks around that facility, nor anywhere on the migration path that goes over the facility - and we would be seeing it, somewhere.

They are flightless, how can they get bird flew?

Sad to see Canada doubling down on this nonsense. Props to the US for stepping up to save those birds – that's real compassion.

Some 🤡 with a power trip. This is sad! Considering they weren't even getting out of the trap they are currently in, why couldn't they just buy out their time reasonably here.
