How can
#TibetanAntelopes run so fast? The secret is in a special air sac in each hind leg measuring approximately 2 cm. in diameter that is covered with a flap of skin. When the antelopes run, these sacs inflate. They can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h, leaving predators in their dust.

As an indicator species of the
#QinghaiTibet Plateau, the Tibetan Antelope is of great scientific value. The species is also one of China’s most successful animal conservation efforts, with the population increasing from under 70,000 at the end of the last century to nearly 300,000 today.
