Watching this back to back with POINT BLANK was probably not the best idea, even if I do enjoy the 90’s noir pulp of PAYBACK, doing it back to back like this is a real hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation

Tbh I dont see much difference between them in quality, PB is harder. Darker, Stiffer, Its Marvin against the world, but tbh Im not that interested in the world, Payback is littered with so many people informing and juicing its world, but Mel Gibson is rhe least in interesting aspect and the style it dulls the blade of the OG

Sorry but I dislike this film Immensely. Point Blank all the way

The Hegeland Director’s Cut is way better—if still miles from Point Blank.

I strongly agree, although the last time I revisited 'Payback' it did feel like something of a proto-John Wick in its own strange way.

Fun fact they had to change this poster for us aussies because root is Aussie slang for sexual intercourse

Love both versions of this film. If the director's 'straight up" version had the voiceover narration it would be perfect. Still, neither Point Blank or Payback can touch The Outfit..just my opinion, of course.

Now watch The Hot Rock

I like both versions of this movie. After watching the directors cut you can tell where the studio stepped in on the theatrical version. Both are good in their own way.

Not quite sure I know what you mean there, but I'm going to be watching Payback again hopefully before the year is out.

Better film than Point Blank.

You chose poorly.

The director's cut is quite good. A bit more hard boiled but less charming.

I've heard the director's cut of Payback is much more in line with the original.

The Straight Up Cut is much better, but far less than POINT BLANK

Now watch The Outfit

Thank Christ you didn't do this with Payback: Fully Loaded

The Gibson theatrical version is better in my opinion, and I don’t think it’s available to watch at this point.

The DC is shorter and grittier and the overlong theatrical tends towards being the usual Hollywood slop. But it has Kris Kristofferson.

We really need a unified PARKER film franchise. The character is great; the scattershot takes on it are, as one might expect, uneven at best.

Payback is freaking great. Just ignore that awful director's cut.

I mean Angie Dickinson…

Caught Stealing/Payback make for a better double feature

shoulda watched ricochet instead

Point Break wins! 👍🏽

I really REALLY hope you're watching the Payback Director's Cut! It's one of the few DC's that's shorter than the theatrical but it makes all the difference. Has a very different feel and plays a lot better than the theatrical.

The big strength to this one- and I agree it’s nothing to Point Black- is in the villains. John Glover, William Devane, James Coburn, Gregg Henry, David Paymer….that is as solid a bench of sleazy evil guys as you could possibly wish for in the 90s.

Watch it with the wahlberg monstrosity and it’s great tho
