Wasn’t going to comment on it, but since it broke containment, I might as well. At this point, I am basically that one asshole that replies and comments on everything Vtubing related.
I have been called a Phase-shill, and there are still a few morons who believe I’m on their payroll because I clipped Pippa four years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I like the company, and for the most part, I also like a good number of its talents. Even if I’m not really affiliated or close to that community, I think the company has been a positive force in the endless shitshow known as Western VTubing corporations. That said, I have always mentioned that if I see the company fucking up in some way, I will also give them shit, so I have to be fair. This is not the company fucking up, but it’s something that could affect the company, so I’d rather call shit out NOW instead of staying quiet and letting things implode like a certain Pink company where everyone kept their mouths shut.
The whole Clara thing is interesting in that there really isn’t a solution that will satisfy everyone. This is not one of those instances of a corpo being a piece of shit, where you want to support the talents but doing so means you end up supporting the company (hello NijiEN). Hell, it’s the opposite, a talent being retarded and possibly harming the reputation of the corpo and all the other talents.
One of the main parts of traditional VTubing is the separation between the public performance/character part and the more private, personal aspect. In an ideal world, the talents should keep these two things separate, but we all know that really isn’t possible, and often both aspects touch or even overlap. This is even less possible when you have PL/Alt/Roommate accounts that people in the community know about and follow. At that point, the personal aspect ends up being not too different from the public one. Hence why there are threads with over 300 pages discussing the somewhat private, yet very public spergouts of the talent in question.
The positive thing about all of this is that there is a very simple solution. Boycott the talent. Don’t donate, don’t buy their merch, don’t engage, don’t subscribe. The majority of a talent’s income comes from donations, ad revenue, and sponsors. Let the company know that if they are going to have collabs including the talent, you won’t watch or support those collabs by not buying the merch or simply not watching. Vote with your wallet.
Realistically, I don’t see the company cutting off and throwing the talent under the bus as a viable solution. It sets a dangerous precedent that if enough people bark loud enough, the company will bend over and submit to the demands. We have enough examples in VTubing where this has happened, and it’s never a good thing. Another thing to remember is that when it comes to traditional VTuber agencies, they will avoid acknowledging these “private” accounts.
That said, I do think they should chew her ass for creating a hostile environment, not only for the company but for the other talents who have nothing to do with this. But that should be an internal thing and not something the public needs to know about.

Some advice for Vtubers who might be reading this:
1. Try to separate your public and private aspects as much as possible. Avoid overlap. Also, don’t make it easier for people online to find and access your personal accounts by posting your face online for some Twitter updoots.
2. If you are going to have a social media alt account to rant about shit, or a super-duper secret Discord server, know that someone will eventually find out and leak everything you say. Don’t say anything you are not willing to openly say in public in front of others. Hell, it’s possible that your employers already follow and view the stupid shit you say in that account (you won’t believe the number of corpo VTubers that talk shit about their corpos in private servers, only for it to get leaked).
INB4 “but I’m not corpo”: That’s fine. This also applies to sponsors. Don’t be retarded and end up putting your sponsors in a bad position where they drop you.
3. Get some fucking IRL friends you can rant to in person. Not other content creators you only know online who can screenshot and record your calls to leak them and fuck you over. The vast majority of VTuber drama starts on either Twitter DMs or Discord.

Now some advice to Clara:
Honey and Clover has an episode where it starts off with Ayumi trying to save a small branch on one of her houseplants that was partially broken but still attached. Her mother tells her the plant will die, so she should just cut the branch off. Ayumi refuses, thinking she can save it. A few days later, she notices the entire plant is almost dead.
I’m sure you are well aware that people were tracking your account. If not, you wouldn’t have privated it. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but you probably wouldn’t have tried to walk back what was said if you didn’t know you fucked up and pissed off a ton of people. Even before this incident, the shit you constantly post paints you as a very sad, lonely, and hateful individual, almost the complete opposite of the dumb, dorky, yet cheerful character you play. You should try to be more like your character and less of a miserable cunt.
Don’t become the broken branch.
