You're painting a dramatic picture, but it ignores a basic reality: our immigration system is overwhelmed, our social services are stretched thin, and we simply can't afford to feed and support the entire world no matter how noble that might sound.
Churches and faith leaders absolutely have the right to practice their beliefs, but that doesn't mean immigration laws suddenly disappear or that every enforcement action is an attack on religion. Plenty of churches operate openly without issue - the ones involved in immigration work aren't being targeted for their faith, they're being asked to follow the same laws as everyone else.
Compassion matters, but so does sustainability. You can't help your neighbors if the system collapses under the weight of unlimited responsibility. Compassion and boundaries aren't opposites - they're necessary partners.
