for those confused, we invented a process to clean ocean water a long time ago

Which takes power, the same shit we’re struggling to get because of the data centers running on water that we also cannot purify fast enough to run. You ever consider even with the technology the infrastructure not being there might be more important than the technology?

we need to accelerate electricity production, more solar, nuclear, geothermal... whatever we can

Isn't it like too expensive? But maybe we can make it cheaper?
7

yeah it's a bit expensive but if we make more electricity, it can be made super cheap

I wonder what the long term ramifications of this might be.

Expensive and brine is bad for the environment

Me when I don't understand what a desalination plant is or how horribly power inefficient it is and how it wastes even more energy just to power my dumb fucking sora prompts.

Yes, for human consumption, not to be constantly harnessed by machines so you can make a picture of Sonic with boobs.

Ahhh thank god, there’s a solution! How about you pay for it, then, since it was your idea

are you fucking stupid

which also takes huge amounts of power, stop being slow

If by "clean" you mean remove salt it's a process as, if not more energy intensive, than creating AI memes. It also leaves behind highly corrosive brine.

The double down on stupid was kind of impressive.

which is crazy expensive because it takes a lot of power to operate and as the image attached to your stupidity shows, has brine as a subproduct which makes sea water saltier - aka: not good. things are not so simple.

Replying to @djcows
its energy intensive, extremely

i'm so stupid i can barely breathe

You're the one who is confused. Desalination treatment plants are extremely expensive and do not constitute the majority of water sources used to cool data centres.
42
Replying to @djcows
Which is also energy intensive so why waste perfectly good drinking water on AI dogshit?
29
Replying to @djcows
You’re fucking delusional, so why not make water free? There’s more than enough for centuries. You pathetic uneducated piece of donkey shit 🤣 so fucking stupid. Only magtards would believe this nonsense

Replying to @djcows
yea and most countries don’t rely on that because it is way more expensive to run than not having it
18
Replying to @djcows
I don’t think you understand how insanely taxing complicated and expensive that process is 😂

We 100% need nuclear powered desalination plants up and down the east, west, and gulf coasts of the United States.

Every other month there's a report from this foundation and that foundation and this group of activists and that group and the government and the WHO that we're running out of drinkable water, but sure, let's use this not so commonly used technology to power computers first.

Yeah we did, which takes a ton of energy to clean, and then a ton of energy to transport to any city not near the ocean (most of them), which further accelerates climate change. 😂 Our end will be hilarious.

so, why they don't use that for AI processing?
8
Replying to @djcows
then why they suck up aquifer water in some places? We have the technology

7
Replying to @djcows
That's a really bad idea. Desalination plants wreak havoc on the local environment and are horribly inefficient.

Desalination at scale is enormously expensive and energy intensive, so you r suggesting a very energy-intensive AI Data Centre is cooled by water extracted by another v energy intensive process. Unless you have invented a cold fusion reactor, I don’t see this working out.

Replying to @djcows
It's not the quantity of ocean water available. It's the enormous amount of energy required to produce fresh water from salt water. And PS: the AI companies are building any desalination plants. They're just sucking their water out of local aquifers.

Replying to @djcows
Desalination is literally supposed to be a last resort used by countries like Saudi Arabia who don’t have fresh water resources
5
Replying to @djcows
Of course you see no problems with this. You’re 12

Now tell them how energy-intensive desalination is 🤭
