After a little writing break, I'm really enjoying working on my book about Lindsay Anderson's if...., a long time fave. It will feature an essay and a collection of interviews with various cast and crew members. It's going to be a part of my "Film Close Up" series. Coming soon.
The gentleman Wolf Man relaxes a little before the arrival of the party guests and the hordes of trick or treaters. I managed to shit quite a few people up this year.
I've just uploaded two recent Dodson and Fogg tracks to my YouTube. They're both from my ONE AFTERNOON release - Underground and the closing title track. Have a listen if you get the chance: piped.video/watch?v=dWdkMK4Y…

Getting PRS music statements is always really interesting. This month it says one of my songs was used on a Russian TikTok video. Another was used for a yoga class. Weird. Any musicians out there I recommend signing up to PRS. prsformusic.com/
Happy Birthday to the iconic Catherine Deneuve. What a legend. I will never forget the day she phoned me to talk about Michel Piccoli for my book on his work. She was so lovely to talk to that it wasn't until after we'd finished that I realised how mental it was she'd rung me.
Happy 82nd Birthday to French actress Catherine Deneuve Born | October 22, 1943 in Paris, France Catherine Fabienne Dorléac, known professionally as Catherine Deneuve, is considered one of the greatest European actresses on film. In 2020, The New York Times ranked her as one of the greatest actors of the 21st century. Deneuve made her screen debut in 1957 at age 13, in a film shot the previous year when she was only 12. A major figure of the New Wave, she became, like Brigitte Bardot and Alain Delon, one of the best-known French artists in the world. In a career spanning nearly 70 years, she has played more than a hundred roles and is recognised in France and internationally for being one of the key faces of the musical film genre with appearances in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Young Girls of Rochefort, Donkey Skin, 8 Women and The Beloved. Early in her career, she gained acclaim for her portrayals of aloof and mysterious beauties while working for well-known directors such as Luis Buñuel, François Truffaut, Jacques Demy, Roman Polanski, and Agnès Varda. She played in films attracting a total of nearly 99 million spectators in theatres, making her the working actress with the most admissions in France. In 1985, she succeeded Mireille Mathieu as the official face of Marianne, France's national symbol of liberty. Deneuve has received numerous accolades over her career including a César Award for The Last Metro and the Venice Film Festival's Volpi Cup for Best Actress for Place Vendôme, as well as nominations for an Academy Award for Indochine and a BAFTA Award for Belle de Jour. To English-speaking audiences, Deneuve is best known for The Hunger. Her other notable films include Repulsion, The April Fools, Scene of the Crime and My Favourite Season. She has received honorary awards, including the Berlin International Film Festival's Golden Bear in 1998, the Cannes Film Festival's Honorary Palme d'Or in 2005, and the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion in 2022. Besides her native French, Deneuve speaks fluent Italian and English, and has some knowledge of Spanish. Her hobbies and passions include gardening, drawing, photography, reading, music, cinema, fashion, antiques and decoration. Photo | Catherine Deneuve, 1981 (Photo © Tony Kent)

Hardly anyone sees my posts on here, but I have a #Halloween recommendation. Disturbed is a darkly comedy horror film starring Malcolm McDowell, who delivers a demented tour de force as a rather unsavoury doctor. If you get the time, give it a watch: piped.video/watch?v=jyjul9NN…

I've just published a new poetry collection, AN AUTUMN SATURDAY, which I wrote through September and October. I was inspired by family walks, weird memories, and the passing of friends. I promise it's not too depressing, though. You can get the book here: wisdomtwinsbooks.weebly.com/…

THE CAT PROFILES, which me and my wife Linzi wrote in 2011, has suddenly started turning up on my sales sheets from Amazon and other online stores again. We loved writing this little comedy book, and even managed to get Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull to write the foreword.
This is a lovely tribute from Woody Allen about the late Diane Keaton...
Woody Allen mourns Diane Keaton: "Unlike anyone the planet has experienced or is unlikely to ever see again, her face and laugh illuminated any space she entered." "As time went on I made movies for an audience of one, Diane Keaton. I never read a single review of my work and cared only what Keaton had to say about it... A few days ago the world was a place that included Diane Keaton. Now it’s a world that does not. Hence, it’s a drearier world. Still, there are her movies. And her great laugh still echoes in my head.” Read more here: variety.com/2025/film/news/w…

I'm going to join millions of others who loved her amazing filmography, and say RIP to the mighty Diane Keaton. She was one of my favourite actresses. She gave so many unforgettable performances in so many wonderful movies. This is such sad news.
Two years ago my documentary on Picasso was screened as part of the Picasso exhibition in Bucharest. It was one of the great honours of my working life. You can get it on DVD at my site: wisdomtwinsbooks.weebly.com/…

I watched The Howling 2 earlier this week. An underrated and very enjoyable flick. I actually know the director, Philippe Mora. That said, this is the only image from it I can think of now. Not sure why.
