I think the fundamental idea of not focusing solely on React is logical, in general this is a good approach to software engineering imo, but between that and how developer adoption looks like there is still a big difference. I also suspect this is just a step to maybe a bigger move in future versions, but shifting developers from stuff they're invested in is never an easy task and also important to mention that what is "right" or logical is not necessarily what "wins".
