Wow, what a 4chan post. Prescient. (Read it first, attached below.) While this phenomenon has been happening to the bottom 60% of the US for the last 20 years in particular, I think this is about to also happen to a lot of white-collar workers. Why? AI: technological unemployment is about to hit hard. And thanks to @Peter_Turchin , now we all know what happens when "elite overproduction" begins to occur -- societal instability, as disappointed would-be elites join forces with the masses to politically overthrow their existing establishment. Americans won't take this shit lying down -- and they shouldn't. The time is coming soon to organize for a better world FOR ALL, not just those of us who were lucky enough to be born smart or rich.
