Goldman Sachs has released a shocking report summarizing the job types that AI will take over. It states that AI has the potential to automate the work equivalent to 300 million people worldwide. Those particularly affected are knowledge workers, with ・Administrative and support: 46% ・Legal: 44% ・Architecture and engineering: 37% On the other hand, the impact on physical labor such as construction and maintenance is less than 6%. The result is that AI will first replace knowledge workers.

I used to think manual labor would be quickly replaced by AI robots, but surprisingly, the results show that in the short and medium term, choosing physical labor actually has a lower risk of being replaced. Maybe it's simply because the technology isn’t accurate or advanced enough yet.

What do you think will happen if you do that?

Please note that the authors themselves may have misinterpreted the data. Exposure to AI does not necessarily mean replacing human labour, but may be related to the use of this technology in these workplaces – supporting existing processes.

Well you are right that exposure doesn’t always mean replacement. But in this case, the Goldman Sachs report specifically refers to automation potential, which basically mean that parts of those jobs could be fully handled by AI, not just assisted.

what exactly in Architecture and Engineering AI will replace? it still can’t vibeachitect a shit in software and we’re expecting to build bridges designed by AI?

Maybe in next 5-10 years it can?

Eyisha, that's a scary number, no? AI's gonna shake things up big time, especially for white-collar jobs, I feel.

Knowledge work won’t vanish, it’ll evolve. The question is- are we evolving with it?

Today, AI is totally unreliable. It literally LIES to you. And then apologizes when you call it out with facts. This is a LONG way off into the future.

This shift could redefine labor markets, emphasizing roles that require human creativity, empathy, and adaptability: adapt or be left behind in this transformative era.

This is kinda concerning

They keep saying this, but to get a decent result out of AI now, you have to stay on top of it constantly and constantly correct it. It still makes the same mistakes it was making two years ago. It loses context so easily. We're nowhere close, and we may never get there.

This is fascinating. Since Marx, I think a common utopia has been that machines gradually will take over all manual, dirty, hard work, so we can do pleasurable things like writing poetry. Instead, the machines will write the poetry and we will work for them in the coal mines.

Most of this isn't going to happen for another 10 years at the earliest. The transition will still be very destructive however. There is no way you go through this much social, economic, and geopolitical upheaval without severe collateral damage. It needs to be addressed.

Automation and AI can replace the entire medical community. It’s a dirty secret but automation can do surgery better. It can make better diagnoses. It can read X-rays better. Doctors will be decimated by automation and AI. You’ll still need nurses tho unless robots can be trained to do a better job

They're just trying to manipulate the market like they always do. 2008 Financial Crisis: The firm was criticized for allegedly misleading investors and profiting from the mortgage market collapse. This led to a $550 million settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2010. Commodity Price Manipulation: Goldman Sachs has been accused of manipulating commodity prices, particularly in aluminum. Investigations revealed that their ownership of aluminum warehouses led to significant delays in supply, inflating prices and costing consumers billions.

Administrative jobs are hardly “knowledge jobs”. It’s a I’m good with excel job. Which should rightly be replaced by robots anyway. Ai, first taking jobs that should be performed by robots and not humans anyway.
