After a few experiments I found this to produce the most consistent results for me > make this a how to draw example, with 4 progressive changes showing the development of the minimal sketch (no text) Each change should be in single file/row starting from left to right It should be pencil sketches on white background only, no colour

nice - I tried it with aging a pic and it was very prone to mode collapse (just generates the same image). Generating multiple sub-images in one seems to be more robust but still can be hit or miss.
