Sony's lawyers have done something VERY UNUSUAL in their IP dispute with Tencent over an allegedly cloned game: they've declared Sony's consent with leaving the case with a United States Magistrate Judge instead of requesting assignment to a United States District Judge. 🧵1/3

The @FTC's Administrative Law Judge has DENIED a motion by the FTC's lawyers that would have prevented Microsoft from presenting -- at the ABK merger trial starting July 21 -- its agreements with Ubisoft, Sony, Nintendo, Boosteroid, NVIDIA, Nware and Ubitus. RELEVANT MATERIAL.

The @FTC has scheduled its in-house trial over #Microsoft's acquisition of #ActivisionBlizzard to begin on July 21, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time. That's another two months in which there could theoretically be a withdrawal, but for now it looks like the trial will go forward.

This sounds like the @FTC may soon drop that ABK case. By the way it's been more than 14 months since the hearing and still no decision by the 9th Circuit -- a decision that is increasingly likely never to be needed. That article is paywalled, but Google provides a key sentence:
