“With Proof-of-Cloud the [TEE] attack cost prob moves well into the millions” (vs $1K) <— solid point
My understanding of the TEE attacks is that what we thought cost ~$100k actually only cost ~$1k. Either way, we all knew that current TEEs require Proof-of-Cloud, and any one serious in TEEs has said this long before these attacks came. It's janky, but it's what we got for now. With Proof-of-Cloud the attack cost prob moves well into the millions (10s of millions? what would it cost to get undetected access to do surgery to an Azure node?), plus reputational stake. I'd still be reticent to trust it for correct execution of a blockchain protocol, but as a practical privacy solution for shared state with execution proven in ZK, it seems totally reasonable. Looking forward to alternative solutions maturing. That means (1) FHE+MPC and (2) secure-by-physics TEEs

The future of TEE security is ☀️. what started out as a @flashbots_x moonshot R&D track on TEE security now led by @0xQuintus @ml_sudo and many fellow researchers in our space supported by @PBS_Foundation with initial funding from @VitalikButerin the caliber of hardcore hackers and researchers contributing to TTEE initiative is impressive - now in full force tackling the gnarliest r&d problems in deepest parts of the stack that the future of compute will run on. forum.teekettle.org/t/trustl…

Lot’s of people dunking on TEEs to pump their own solutions/engagement farming Mostly repetitions of the same points so will just reshare a post from a few weeks ago (next tweet) that already covered all of this
Given all the attention TEEs have received over the last few days, I wrote a piece about a systematic mistake we're making A big part of the story of crypto is identifying the tools we need and then improving them by orders of magnitude (e.g. ZK and permissionless consensus) 👇

Our Cypherpunk Congress is the biggest communal event at @EFDevcon (by Luma registrations). But is it a coincidence? I don't think so. It has been born from a strong emotion of justice. Desire to flip broken @EthCC privacy, and turn it into smart, fast & more honest human-centric activity. It required lots of creativity, trust by many wonderful people from @kurtopsahl to @naomibrockwell, & a warm support by thousands of people who witnessed the first edition. Being human means liveliness, chaotic nature, playfulness and... extraordinary talent. From @0x_m_f covering super coffee to @iandreeacia covering rapid fire print, from unstoppable @KeenOfCoin to @jensei_ rushing Bangkok for a black cloth. Being open means having @RogerDingledine from @torproject one day before the show. Hosting @xychelsea - uniting whistleblower world with crypto. Amplifying Sapphirepunk anti tech-bros storytelling by @wassimulacrum, or tuning in @jayapapaya's Cypherpunk playlist. Each time you need to prove that you matters. So new people from those credible worlds of human rights, open-source, freedom tech will see that you are trustworthy, legit, not-corrupred. It's like a game. And stakes in privacy are quite high. Being huge, big is a speculative narrative. I love small and cosy events. Not festivals. But freedom needs this impact, otherwise we doomed to exist within micro aka nishified communities. "Festival" here stands for celebration. Because it's a zero-bullshit zone of people who believe in something decent. Having a war, fashist leadership, pro-genoside governments, widespread corruption, populism, lack of freedom in countries of our team. Because this change do matters. Now. Not even tomorrow. to appropriate words of PTA's character "Viva la Cypherpunk Congress".

Lots of alpha iykyk- Why TEE.fail is bullish for BuilderNet: Hardening the Path to Permissionless Blockbuilding ⚡ It's been a journey since June TTEE salon when @DanielGenkin & Cristina shared their research. I'm ever more excited about TEE security r&d and what secure and open TEE can uniquely enable in decentralized blockbuilding, harnessing MEV to shift the power dynamics of the largest markets in the world.

PSA: this is an application of the attack published a few weeks ago to newer chips It still doesn't apply to BuilderNet (or any Flashbots products) because of the physical access requirement but it *does* highlight some of the R&D we're doing [post below]
More interposer fun, this time with DDR5 memory. Breaking TDX, SGX, SEV and even Nvidia TEEs. Checkout our work at TEE.fail, and get a personally-signed Intel attestation report at @TEEdotFail.

No more ankle monitor! 🎉 I’m still grounded in the Netherlands and can’t work or travel yet, but freedom starts with small steps , like finally being able to go to the sauna again. Grateful for this progress 😌
