The phony story about Obama supposedly collecting royalties on the Obamacare name was from a satire news site called, fittingly enough, the Dunning-Kruger Times. It was so ridiculous as to be obviously a joke. But not obviously enough for Trump or his credulous followers.
This contribution by Reimer and colleagues on private equity (PE) acquisition Of addiction treatment centers is striking. Such acquisitions markedly increase the probability of public insurance acceptance. When incentives are aligned, more nimble market actors can improve care. healthaffairs.org/doi/full/1…

Senator Lee, Mr, Kirk was murdered by a single disturbed individual. Moreover, no prominent liberal or Democrat responded to that atrocity the way that you yourself did in the attached post. You are an elected official. We have a right to expect better.
I’m still furious that they killed Charlie Kirk And then celebrated his murder, claiming it was morally justified And then mocked him—along with his grieving widow America needs Charlie Kirk and his unique gifts now more than ever That’s why they killed him

As a Jew & son of a Jewish refugee, I'm alarmed by the rise of antisemitism. The ADL's mission is to call it out when they see it. But I found their response to Mamdani's election shockingly gratuitous, inflammatory and deeply irresponsible. nytimes.com/2025/11/06/nyreg… via @NYTimes

I'm excited to announce I am on the job market this year! 🎉 My research explores economic barriers for people with disabilities at the intersection of labor, public, and health economics. My #JMP examines how reliable transportation transforms outcomes for this population.🧵

This is mass murder on a scale we haven't seen in generations. Trump did this. Musk did this. The SCOTUS that allowed these cuts to congressionally mandated programs and an acquiescent @GOP did this. It's sickening. newyorker.com/culture/the-ne…

Warren Buffett historically called airlines the worst industry for an investor. Today it must be the auto industry: - Regulatory shifts each administration - Volatile tariffs - Intense Chinese competition - Unclear consumer shift to EV by country - Cyclical demand - High fixed costs - Large countries demand local plants - Low margins - Highly unionized workforce with contract rigidity - Competitors sell similar products - Don't control customer relationship or retail experience - Subject to supply chain disruptions - Subject to credit cycles through finance arms - Existential risk of mobility-as-a-service - Constant technological change

Racing to my train today, I pulled over halfway there with an "oh-f***k" realization: I forgot my phone. Just then, I looked up to see @veppol pull up behind, the phone in hand. Those of us blessed in this life to have folk who have our backs need to earn this out.

Maybe the lesson is not "Democrats should run moderates" or "Democrats should run socialists" but "Democrats should run candidates who are likable and have politics that are appealing in the specific places they are running."

Cuomo's increasingly bigoted sore loser campaign gave Mamdani a very extended series of victory laps, but all the interesting questions about him are the workability of his agenda not "can progressives win elections in big cities?" slowboring.com/p/now-comes-t…

If that number sounds crazy to you: Consider that Eitan Hirsch found that flatly antisemitic attitudes were extremely common among young conservatives back in 2021.
“I am told by someone in a position to know that something like 30 to 40 percent of D.C. G.O.P. staffers under the age of 30 are Groypers.” The other sixty percent are Groyper-lite, they say stuff like “Heritage American” instead of “white” like that’s a big difference.

Someone asked for a counterintuitive economic insight. Here’s 1: if home prices increase by 0% over the next 30 years. American society as a whole would be far wealthier than if home prices increase by 6%/yr over the same period.
