She is now playing with fire, including the possibility of serious professional sanctions
Two sources familiar with the matter tell me prosecutors in the EDVA US attorney‘s office presented newly sworn US attorney Lindsey Halligan with a memo explaining why charges should not be brought against James Comey, because there isn’t enough evidence to establish probable cause a crime was committed, let alone enough to convince a jury to convict him. Justice Department guidelines say a case should not be brought unless prosecutors believe it’s more likely than not that they can win a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt. This detail was first reported by ABC News. EDVA declined to comment.
Forget the 10 minutes or 30 minutes. What’s the reasonable suspicion to keep him for five seconds in the first place? It certainly seems like walking while black. And this is now full-blown arrest without identification of charges. DC is under martial law.
Trump's troops detain a Black lawyer in D.C.—swarmed by 20 officers just for walking down the block. Paul Bryant plans to press charges on those who assaulted him "in a way that I will not forget anytime soon." He is a West Point graduate—and served as Infantry Officer in Army before starting his legal career. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department, FBI, and other federal agencies stopped him for no reason in Logan Circle, Washington D.C. He was handcuffed for an hour while his vehicle was searched without permission. #DemsUnited
The classic Trump location. Try it yourself. “A lot of people are saying he’s the worst president of all time.” “A lot of people are saying he lies constantly.” “A lot of people are saying he’s an existential threat to the constitution.” See how easy?
Trump: "A lot of people are saying maybe we'd like a dictator."
Remarkable. Even one refusal is a surpassingly rare event. Two by same grand jury equals “get out of here with your stupid case.”
Federal prosecutors said today they went to a grand jury twice to indict a D.C. woman for assaulting an FBI agent during an arrest by ICE — and were twice rejected. Notably, she faces the same charge as the District's alleged sandwich thrower. wusa9.com/article/news/crime…

I gotta say, me and @TheRickWilson make for a good conversation. Of course, anyone plus @TheRickWilson make for a good conversation, but with all that’s happening, this is a PARTICULARLY good conversation.

There was no call. Not even a voicemail. Americans should be alarmed that a President deploying Marines onto our streets doesn’t even know who he’s talking to.
Reporter: When is last time you spoke with Governor Newsom? President Trump: A day ago. Called him up to tell him, got to do a better job, he's doing a bad job. Causing a lot of death and potential death

LAST CHANCE! This Tuesday, April 22 at 7PM, we’re joined by @TheRickWilson, co-founder of The Lincoln Project and the rare political insider who saw the Trump threat coming years before the rest. For nearly a decade, Wilson’s cut through the noise with razor-sharp ads, unflinching commentary, and a deep understanding of what it takes to beat back the MAGA tide. One of the dozen or so outrages that went relatively under the radar – this week.
🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read. He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:
Talking San Diego is pleased to present: An Evening with Rick Wilson and Harry Litman—a brutal, unsparing look inside the MAGA machine, and how to dismantle it. Wilson knows the GOP playbook—he spent decades running it from the inside. Now he’s exposing it. Tuesday, April 22 | 7 PM PT Congregation Beth Israel, San Diego Tickets: shorturl.at/2gbxW
Apparent resolution of the totally ugly stick them all in a room brutality
NEW: A career prosecutor in DOJ's public integrity section volunteered to sign the Adams motion, in a bid to spare colleagues from being possibly fired. The person is viewed by them as a hero, and the decision came after Emil Bove gave them one hour to decide who will file it.
The dual themes of this carpetbombing: 1) they exceed the Pres's executive powers; & 2) they bring distress and suffering to Americans. Trump can order DOJ to support w/ the full force of the federal govt, and if he loses so what? & if people die in the meantime, so double what?

JUST IN: Judge Amy Berman Jackson — who sat in the courtroom during Trump's arraignment in Washington — becomes the latest federal judge to speak out on Jan. 6 pardons. "Patriotism is loyalty to country and loyalty to the Constitution – not loyalty to a single head of state."
If she had any self-respect, Pam Bondi would withdraw her nomination. Not only is this the worst affront to the DOJ in its history, it contradicts her testimony and her expressed revulsion for pardoning people who are violent to enforcement while making her look impotent.
