But students learn almost nothing of the 60-100 million killed under Stalin and Mao. In fact, they often learn that communism is based on noble aims for fairness and equality. Here at Kurapaty is one of dozens of mass graves. Stalin’s secret police shot and killed 50,000 people at this one location alone during the Great Purge between 1937 and 1941.
