You could detect a level of annoyance with the Cowboys in the 49ers’ postgame comments. Maybe this is part of the reason why.
Kyle Shanahan fired up his players Saturday night with a video clip of Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence proclaiming 'you just witnessed the best defense in the world.' The 49ers' rebuttal came Sunday... sfchronicle.com/sports/micha…

The Speaker of the House is voted on by the entire House. It is not an internal caucus vote to decide the leadership of one party caucus. The distortions necessary to cast Republican dysfunction in the House as Democrats' fault are producing a bunch of ridiculous claims.
Democrats lock-step vote to oust McCarthy was one of most surprising part of yesterday’s proceedings. There has been a norm against interfering with the opposing party’s internal decisions (leaders, assignments, etc). That, like other norms, is fading.

The "history of sports broadcasting" segment was so enjoyable, @Ourand_SBJ and @AndrewMarchand.
I especially liked listening to McManus talk about his 1998 deal to bring the NFL back to CBS - a deal that resurrected CBS Sports. "My hand was literally shaking when I signed it." open.spotify.com/show/4cWYgS…

Great thread on Russ Francis here from a pretty damn good reporter.
A Russ Francis story 🧵 Dexter Manley went on a sports radio show in 2012 and accused Bill Walsh of running a Bountygate-style program back in the day, paying out #49ers whose hits knocked a player out of a game. A few months later, Russ sent me an email ...

Jim was one of our best, and one of a kind. There are no words. RIP.
Devastated beyond words by the loss of my longtime friend and former ESPN colleague Jim Caple. He was brilliant, creative, thoughtful and kind. We love you, Capes. Rest easy.
