Elixir v1.19 released: enhanced type checking, broader type inference, and up to 4x faster compilation for large projects! elixir-lang.org/blog/2025/10… A huge thank you to Fresha, Starfish*, and Dashbit for sponsoring the type system, plus @CNRS and @Remote for making it possible.

I read all the inference paragraph but wouldn't "def even?(int x)" or "def even?(x: int)" just be quicker and simpler than any guard, typespec and better for IDEs intellisense?

We are not doing changes to the language at the moment. It is about inferring *existing code*.

Soon the excuse that we can’t use Elixir because it lacks typing will be a bad memory. OTP, Premeptive scheduler and fearless concurrency.
