Biggest news of my life incoming: @emergetools has been acquired by @getsentry 🤯
We're incredibly excited about this new chapter, but first I thought it could be fun to share a bit more about how we got here 🧵

@sond813 (left) & I (right) met at Pali High and instantly bonded over a mutual love of technology, lunchtime Gelson's pizzas and impassioned Mac vs. PC arguments (I convinced Noah to see the light, he still denies this)
Soon after, we built a physics simulation game together called Gravidrop (watch its glorious trailer here: piped.video/watch?v=O8yRRjfl…).
We “released” our first “product” on our Twitter (that's what it was called back then) to an audience of ~200 followers.
This was the beginning of building our first company together, ThnkDev 🧠
Some of ThnkDev’s highlights:
- Sold an enterprise license to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory
- Received our first donation for one of our apps from Steve Wozniak
- Had our Snapchat client for Mac hit #2 on Mac App Store (only behind macOS)
- Had our apps featured on sites like LifeHacker, MacWorld, Product Hunt, Mashable, The Loop, Engadget, 9to5Mac
After high school, we decided to go to college together at UCSD. Noah studied computer engineering, I studied economics.
We always knew we wanted to do something bigger, but didn't know what. So after college I went to work at a startup called Graphiq & Noah went to work at a startup called @Airbnb.
Graphiq went on to be acquired by @Amazon to help power @AmazonAlexa, and Airbnb became the travel tech powerhouse it is today.

Then Covid happened and our normal lives stopped being normal and we decided maybe it was the time to finally take the bigger leap.
So we did what any rational entrepreneurs would do - book a trip to Yosemite and lock ourselves in an room until we came up with an idea to apply to @ycombinator with. Somehow this worked.
We founded @emergetools, got into the YC Winter 2021 batch & took the second photo below in 2020 soon after we'd first bought the emergetools.com domain. For the next 4.5 years Emerge Tools became my life.
Some of Emerge's highlights:
- Our tools have analyzed over 4M builds
- We've grown our team to 10 awesome people from all over the world
- Had some of the biggest and best companies in the world as customers: OpenAI, Spotify, Duolingo, Square, Tinder & more

...And now, the biggest highlight of them all... joining the amazing team at @getsentry 🙌
We’ve always admired the Sentry team and how they go about building for developers. We couldn’t be happier with the fit and can’t wait to start contributing to their amazing platform.
🙏 To every developer who's ever used Emerge: thank you. Your feedback and suggestions have shaped our product and brought us to where we are today.
